Installation

Download and install Speakly on your computer

System Requirements

macOS

  • macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later
  • Apple Silicon required — M1, M2, M3, M4 or newer. Intel Macs are not supported: the only macOS files published are arm64.
  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended for local models)
  • 2GB free disk space
Intel Macs are not supported
Every release publishes only two macOS files: Speakly-<version>-arm64.dmg and Speakly-<version>-arm64-mac.zip. There is no Intel (x86_64) build, and an arm64 app does not run on an Intel Mac.

Windows

  • Windows 10 or later (64-bit)
  • No Windows on ARM build — the only .exe installer published is x64
  • 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended for local models)
  • 2GB free disk space
Local Models on Windows
Local Whisper models do work on Windows. They can be significantly slower than on Apple Silicon depending on your hardware, so onboarding pre-selects Use Cloud Service on Windows and marks it Recommended. If you pick the local model there, Speakly shows a Local Model on Windows warning with two buttons, Use Cloud Instead and Continue with Local; choosing Continue with Local downloads and runs the model normally.
