When the Trial Ends
What Speakly blocks, and the prompts you see, after the 7-day trial
A new account gets seven days of full access. After that, a free account can still open the app and read everything it has already transcribed, but it cannot start a new transcription until a Pro license is on the account. This page describes what that state looks like, so you can tell it apart from a bug.
How the seven days are counted
The trial runs for seven days from the date the server recorded as its start. Speakly caches that answer locally, so the check still works while you are offline.
Signs the trial has expired
- An EXPIRED badge next to the Speakly name at the top of the sidebar
- A red Trial Expired box in the sidebar reading “Upgrade to continue transcribing. You can still view your existing transcriptions.”, with a Get Pro - $20 Lifetime button
- The Search button on Home greyed out, with the tooltip Upgrade to Pro to search transcriptions
- A full-screen modal titled Trial expired, with Get Speakly PRO - $20 and Maybe later — it appears once per expiry date, not on every launch
What happens when you press the shortcut
The recording pill appears, shows Trial expired - Upgrade to Pro for about three seconds and closes again. No audio is captured and nothing is saved.
The repeated-attempt prompt
Speakly counts blocked attempts. On the third one in the same week it brings the main window to the front and shows a modal titled Trial Expired with the message “Your 7-day free trial has ended. Upgrade to continue transcribing.” and the buttons Get Pro - $20 and Maybe later. The counter then resets, another prompt is suppressed for the next 30 minutes, and the count also resets on its own at the start of each week.
After you upgrade
Buying the license switches the plan to Pro — the sidebar badge becomes PRO — and the block stops applying. Both upgrade buttons open Settings → Plans and Billing, which is where the purchase itself happens.
