Real-time call translation
You talk in your language; the call hears a translated voice, live. Speakly re-speaks what you say in another language as you say it — on Zoom, Teams, Meet or any app that lets you pick a microphone.
How it works
- You speak into your microphone; OpenAI's realtime model re-speaks it in the target language within moments.
- The translated voice plays into an output you choose. Point it at a virtual audio device (BlackHole on macOS, VB-Cable on Windows) and select that device as your microphone in the call — the other side hears only the translation.
- Choose which side gets translated: your voice for them, or their voice for you.
- The person on the other end needs nothing — no app, no setup. They just hear a voice.
Honest costs, your own key
- Live translation runs on OpenAI's realtime speech-to-speech model using your own API key — you pay OpenAI directly, per minute, with no markup.
- Speakly shows a per-minute estimate before you start and a running cost during the call.
- The app itself is a one-time $20 lifetime license — the same license that covers dictation and transcription.
What you need
- Speakly on macOS or Windows.
- An OpenAI API key (added once in Settings → Transcription).
- A virtual audio device such as BlackHole (macOS) or VB-Cable (Windows), so the call app can use the translated voice as its microphone.
Call translation — FAQ
Which call apps does it work with?
Any app that lets you choose a microphone: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Discord, Slack huddles and the rest. Speakly plays the translated voice into a virtual audio device, and the call app reads it as a normal microphone.
Does the other person need Speakly?
No. The other side just hears a translated voice on a normal call — nothing to install, nothing to configure.
Is this private like Speakly's dictation?
No, and we say so plainly: dictation can run fully local, but live call translation streams your speech to OpenAI's realtime model using your own API key. Your key, your data agreement with OpenAI, no middleman.
What does a call cost?
You pay OpenAI directly per minute of translation through your own key — Speakly adds no markup and shows you the estimated and running cost in the app.
