Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 2025
Introduction
Speakly is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our voice transcription application. Speakly is designed with privacy as a core principle — most processing happens locally on your device.
Data We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and name through our authentication provider (Clerk). This is necessary to manage your account and license.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe may collect payment details as described in their privacy policy.
Trial Abuse Prevention
To prevent abuse of our free trial system, we store a cryptographic hash (SHA-256) of your email address. This hash cannot be reversed to reveal your actual email and is used solely to prevent the same email from getting multiple free trials.
Data We Do NOT Collect
We do not collect, store, or have access to:
- Your audio recordings
- Your transcriptions
- Your dictionary entries
- Your custom prompts
- Your notes or snippets
Local Processing
When you use Local Mode (Whisper), all transcription happens entirely on your device. No audio data is sent to any server. Your transcriptions, dictionary, custom prompts, and notes are stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage. We cannot access this data.
Bring Your Own Key (BYOK)
When you use your own API keys, audio and text are sent directly from your device to the provider you choose. Speakly does not intercept, store, or process this data. You are subject to the privacy policy of the provider you use:
- OpenAI
- Groq
- Anthropic (Claude)
- Google (Gemini)
- Mistral
- OpenRouter
- Cerebras
- Deepgram
We recommend reviewing each provider's privacy policy before using their services.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Clerk: Authentication (Google, Microsoft, Apple, GitHub sign-in)
- Stripe: Payment processing
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent at any time
When you delete your account, we remove your personal information from our servers. Local data on your device remains under your control.
Security
We protect your data using industry-standard security measures. All data transmitted to our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Local data is stored in encrypted format on your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or through the application.
